About the project
Planet Poll is a personal project: anonymous worldwide polls on big questions, with one vote per person and live results from every country. The first poll asks how the world is most likely to end. A voter answers three short questions about themselves, picks up to five scenarios, including the option that there will be no apocalypse at all, spreads 100% between them and says when they expect it to happen. The project keeps only the answers: no names, no emails, no accounts and no stored IP addresses. It is made for curiosity and conversation, and new polls on the future, science and society are being added.
Project story
01The request
A personal project: how does the world think it will end?
02The obstacle
There is no login, since any friction kills a poll, but the votes still have to be honest, and a sudden spike in traffic must not bring the site down.
03What was built
The site runs on Cloudflare Pages and D1, with bot protection by Turnstile, a signed cookie and a salted network hash to allow one vote per person, and 16 languages chosen automatically from the browser.
04The result
Live results open from a direct link and are ready to share.
A good fit for: Polls, voting and any campaign that might go viral.
